Historical Ensembles Update Spring 2022

05/13/2022

An update for the Patriots Fife and Drum Corps and the 8th Green Machine Regiment Band

The Patriots Fife and Drum Corps and 8th Green Machine Regiment Band had their second Historical Showcase on April 16th. This semesterly performance allows for students and the community to hear both of the Green Machine historical ensembles as well as provide an opportunity for the two groups to perform with each other. This semester, the Historical Showcase was hosted at the Manassas National Battlefield Park as a collaboration with the National Park Service and drew a crowd of over 50 people. Performing on Henry Hill just behind the Bull Run Monument, both groups showed great enthusiasm with having the opportunity to perform on such an historic landscape.

On Thursday May 19th at 7:00pm, both historical ensembles will be performing in the first Fairfax Muster at the Veterans Amphitheater next to Fairfax City Hall. This is a collaborative event between Green Machine Ensembles, the City of Fairfax, the Washington Tattoo, and all performing ensembles. In addition to the Patriots Fife and Drum Corps and the 8th GM Regiment Band, the Stony Creek Drum Corps from Connecticut and the Fort Myer Fire Department Fife and Drum Corps (FMFDFDC) will be performing as well. GMU ROTC will also be present and will serve as the Honor Guard for the opening ceremony.

The Patriots Fife and Drum Corps will once again lead the procession for the University Commencement in Eagle Bank Arena on May 20th.

The 8th Green Machine Regiment Band has a variety of performances coming up over the summer. Follow the band on Facebook to stay up to date with all their upcoming performances.
