Chris Troiano and the 8th GM Regiment Band

03/29/2021

Congratulations to Chris Troiano!

Chris Troiano, Director of the 8th GM Regiment Band, started the group in 2017 along with Dr. Michael Nickens, aka Doc Nix. Chris has been instrumental in introducing the band into the Civil War enthusiasts community of the DC Metro Area. Because of Chris’s involvement, the group has been invited to perform at several historical events all over Virginia and Maryland. In addition, Chris’s relationship with the Bull Run Civil War Roundtable prompted them to donate money to fund two of the largest period instrument purchases for the band.

This semester, Chris is presenting his doctoral recital. It will be filmed on April 1st and will include 10 musical works that have a large variety from composers such as Steven Foster to Sia. There will be 10 student performers alongside Chris in the recital. We are so proud of Chris and the work he has done with the 8th GM Regiment Band and would like to congratulate him on his accomplishments!

Once filming has wrapped up on the recital, Chris hopes to move on to a video project with the Bull Run Civil War Roundtable. The video will take place in a Civil War fort located behind parking lot K on the Fairfax campus of George Mason University. This site is not well known and filming here will bring awareness to the public as the site is now being preserved.

Aside from the filming of the video, Chris has booked the band to play at Balls Bluff on July 4th, marking the third year the band has been invited to play at this event. Chris hopes to make more connections in the community in order to spread the word about the band.

Please join us in congratulating Chris on both his academic accomplishments and those he has made happen for the 8th GM Regiment Band. We are truly lucky to have him as a member of the Green Machine Ensembles staff!
