Band Camp 2022 Review

Do you hear that? The Green Machine must be back in town!

Between August 15-19, the pep band held its annual band camp for the Green Machine pep band. In attendance were student leaders, current members on scholarship, some new members, staff, and coaches. The students spent the week reconnecting, learning new charts, dusting off old tunes, and strengthening important leadership skills.

A highlight of the week was on Wednesday when returning members and staff went to the EDGE at Mason’s Science and Technology campus to work on team development and experiential learning. Through “challenge by choice”, the EDGE helps participants Energize, Develop, Grow, and Excel through a series of games and activities.

Band camp week culminated with the pep band's first performance of the 2022-2023 school year at the New Student Convocation Friday morning in EagleBank Arena. The pep band and Emerald Desire entertained new students, faculty, staff, and administration as they entered and exited the arena, as well as accompanying Doc Nix as he taught everyone the Fight Song.
