George Mason University's World Class Winterguard

9/8/2019
GMU's winterguard has been moved up to world class!
The George Mason Winterguard were crowned the world champions of the Winter Guard International (WGI) Open Class in 2019! And now, they have been promoted to compete in the WGI World Class division!
This an accomplishment for our organization. In only his second year leading the Winterguard, Director Lindell Palmer captured the ultimate victory. And, in doing so, set some impressive WGI records. With a final score of 99.0, Palmer’s guard set the record for the 2nd highest score ever to be achieved in the Open Class and the 6th highest in the history of the entire WGI circuit! And that’s 42 years of history! You can see their award-winning performance by clicking here.
With their new “World Class” status, the Mason World Winterguard is gearing up for the season. Auditions were held on September 8th with an amazing turnout. Because of our new designation, there is no “age out” for members, which opens the door to those who loved the sport in high school and college to be able to compete again. We are excited about the upcoming season and our foray into the world class!
